Poor Annamae. Her top teeth are taking forever to pop through, and she is beside herself with discomfort. It is presenting the first real parenting challenge for Annemarie and I. The baby has been a total pleasure up til now -- not a cryer, smiling and laughing constantly, sleeping through the night with only a gentle interruption for a quick hit of milk -- but that is (for now) a thing of the past. It makes you wonder about your own score as a parent when the baby is so inconsolable, and you have to really work to remind yourself that you're doing a good job. There are some things you just can't speed up, much as you might want to.

On the lighter side, she says "Mama" now, and is maybe a week away from a proper forward crawl. Funny thing is, I think she's about two weeks away from a proper bilaterally supported forward walk (!).

Shout out to Al Gore! Congrats on the Nobel Peace Prize. Now please save our country!

Hey now! I've been going through some old boxes and back-up disc spindles, and I am discovering nuggets of pure gold. By that I mean long-forgotten evidence of Thrill Factory's early years. Not one to waste a good chuckle, I have created a new YouTube channel to spotlight the madness. I will be uploading all sorts of weirdness in the next few weeks, so keep an eye on it. See the BACK IN THE DAY link to the right, and let the wincing commence!

We've also got new Annamae pics and video at their respective links.

To buy the iPhone or not to buy the iPhone... that am the quextion.

I should amend that. I am already committed to the idea of getting an iPhone, after having the opportunity to play with my pal Tom's for an hour in Las Vegas. Annemarie fell in love with it at the Apple store months ago. We just need to pick the right week, when there is sufficient disposable income to strike. I want to buy them outright, no credit cards. The trick is, we may want to go away for a few nights for our anniversary this month, and we may be moving in December, and then there's that HDTV I've been checking out, which would require a Blu-Ray DVD player... and baby's first Christmas... *sigh*.

Another reason to look forward to California: Ron -- old school New Jersey bud, Scrabble nemesis and retired fried chicken mogul -- has reconnected with me from his home in downtown L.A.! The roster of friends in SoCal grows. The Thrill Factory hasn't had a new conscript in a while. I can't wait for the initiation ritual.

I am also formulating a new creative project, potentially the most ambitious and wildly impractical Factory product ever (and that's saying something). All I will offer for now is the title:

Oooooh. More to come!
